Dr. Chandralekha Ashangari, MD

Dr. Chandralekha Ashangari, MD was born and raised in India where she went to medical school. She developed interest in cardiology while she was doing Cardiology Externship/Research in Dallas prior to her residency. She did her Internal Medicine Residency at Texas Tech University of Health Sciences at Amarillo during which she was awarded Resident George Kollmar Award for her service towards the veterans. She then did her Cardiovascular disease fellowship at HCA Medical city Fort Worth/University of North Texas Health Science Center. She developed an interest in Cardiac Imaging during her fellowship and then did her Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States. Preventive cardiology helps in risk factor modification and she believes that utmost care should be taken to focus on preventive cardiology in combating heart disease.

Dr. Ashangari’s special focus is Preventive cardiology, Women’s cardiovascular health and Cardiac Imaging. She is proficient in English and Telugu. She is committed to serve Plano, Frisco, Allen, and the surrounding communities.
